AUTOMATIC LOG-IN  - I want my computer to automatically log me in whenever I  go to the Forums. How do I do this?

1.       When you login or when you register click the Remember Me box to have you automatically log-in when you’re using your computer

CRFATING A POST 101/HOW TO ATTACH A SMILEY' and MORE.

  1. First you need to open up a specific forum. Once you're inside the forum click on the NEW THREAD tab that's a third of the way down the page on the left. That will take you to your 'post' page. A thread is a series of posts.
  2. SMILEY - Once you're in your post page  look to the right at the SMILIES; if you click on a Smiley on  the right hand side of the page it'll be inserted into your post . If you click on  a SMILEY at the bottom of the post it'll be inserted in the title of your post. SMILEY
  3. Keep going down the page. Notice there is a box you can use to add an ATTACHMENT to your post and a box you can use to SUBSCRIBE to your post so that the replies come to you via e-mail.
  4. You can also  ATTACH A POLL to your post.
  5. Finally you can PREVIEW the post before you send it out by clicking on the preview button at the bottom of the page.
  6. Once you've sent the post out you always have the option of EDITING it. Simply Click the EDIT button on the lower right hand side of your post to edit.
POSTING 101 - Prettying Up Your PostThere are several ways to 'pretty up' your posts by adding images, quotes, italics, etc. These can  all be accomplished using the features in the section just above where you've inputted your post.

Insert Image -Clicking on this will allow you to add an IMAGE

Wrap [QUOTE] tags around selected text The sheet of paper allows you to put QUOTES around a phrase

The  paperclip allows you to ATTACH a paper to your post

Insert LinkThe chain allows you to create A LINK  to another page

Insert Email Link The envelope allows  you to create AN EMAIL LINK

Ordered ListThe 1,2,3 list allows you to create a NUMBERED LIST

Unordered List The bullets allow you to create a BULLETED LIST

You can also bold, italicize or underline a  section of text or change the font type or size by using other tools in the post box

PICTURE: How can I get  my picture into my posts? - There’s no need to be represented by a little ball (or whatever it is) when you post. If you want you can download a picture or an image of your choosing.  Your picture is called your ‘Avatar’. (Note that this feature was un-intentionally turned off before - You should be able to use it now.)

1.       Click on USER CP on the left hand side of the menu bar near the top of the page.

2.       Go to down to Setting s and Options and click on EDIT AVATAR

3.       In the Custom Avatar Box click USE CUSTOM AVATAR

4.       Click on CHOOSE FILE and then browse through your computer to a picture  that you like.

5.       Click Save Changes and you’re done! (if you have trouble with this please let me know)

PEOPLE  - How can I find out who’s participating in these Forums?

1.       Click on the Community tab on the menu bar running across the top hand side of the page

2.       Then click on Member’s List to bring up a list of all the members. If you want to organize the list according to the number of posts entered click on Posts and it will re-organize them.People By Ted Johnson

How can I get some information on someone who's posting?

1.       Simply click on their name. Depending on where you do you will either be taken directly to their profile or to a drop down list that will allow you to go to their profile. There you can look at their bio, send them a message, ask them to be a friend, etc.

Can I Find Out Who Is Online Right Now?

1.       Yes a  listing of the members who are online right now can be found bottom of the Main Forums page (as well as how many guests are viewing the Forums).

LOST PASSWORD; I've forgotten my password - how do I get it back?

1.       Click on the ‘Forgotten your password’ link provided to you when your attempt to log-in and type in the e-mail address you registered with. You’ll receive an e-mail giving you a chance to reset your password.

NEW POSTS: I’d like to go check out the Forums with New Posts. How can I determine which ones they are?

There are a couple of ways you can do this.

1.       If you look down the left-hand side of the main Forum page you’ll see that each Forum has a symbol  ( a clipboard with one or two sheets of paper attached to it). If that clipboard has an orange background (and two sheets of paper ) then someone’s posted to it since you last visited the site.

2.       If you want to find out what’s been posted in the last day click on the TOP LINKS tab on the right hand side of the menu bar near the top of the page. From there click on TODAY’S POSTS to get a list of the posts, who posted them, etc. from the last 24 hours.

QUICKIE PREVIEW:Can I get a quick preview of what’s in a post without opening it up?

1.       Yes you can. Simply drag your mouse over the title of the post to pick up the first few sentences in the post.

 “SIGNATURE”- Can I create a ‘signature’ (a phrase or quote or your name or an image) that will go at the bottom of my posts?

1.       Click on your USER CONTROL PANEL (USER CP) at the top left hand side of the menu bar at the top of the page

2.       Click on Edit Your Signature

3.       Put your ‘signature’ in the Edit Box

4.       Upload an image from your computer to go along with your signature  in the ‘Upload Signature Picture ‘Box if you wish

SUBSCRIBING

Subscribing to a Post: I  don’t want to go to the Forums all the  time to check on  a post. I’d like some threads (posts) to be sent directly to my email. Can I do this?

1.       Go to the post (or thread) that you’re interested in and click on ‘Thread Tools

2.       Click on subscribe to this thread

Subscribing to A Forum -. I’d like  all the posts from a particular forum  to be sent to me. Can I subscribe to that Forum?

1.    Click on the Forum you’re interesting in subscribing to and then click on the ‘Forum Tool’s tab on the right hand side of the menu bar.

2.    Click on ‘Subscribe to this Forum’ in the drop down list and it will guide you through the rest.

Subscribing to All My Posts - I’d like to follow all the posts I start or reply to in my email address? Can I do this?

1.     Click on Your All Powerful User Control Panel  (USER CP) on the left hand side of the menu bar. 

2.     In the Settings and Options Box click on EDIT OPTIONS

3.     In the Messaging and Notification Section go down to the ‘DEFAULT THREAD SUBSCRIPTION CODE’’ (what a catchy title! Do they go to school to learn stuff like this?).

4.     Click on arrow in the box and you’ll be given a range of choices (instant email notification, daily, etc.)

PRESENTATION: Can I change how the discussions (threads) are presented?

Yes, you can. There are several ways that the discussions can appear;  the default or Linear Mode has the oldest thread appear at the top with the newer ones after it.  The Threaded Mode  shows one posts and a list of the others in the thread. When you use this one you can see who responded and then quickly click on the post you want. The Hybrid Mode is a mixture of the other two modes; you can see more than one post and  and a list of posts that have responded to it.

1.     You can change the thread style by clicking on DISPLAY TOOLS in the menu bar running across the top of the first post in a thread (i.e. the original post)

SEARCHING  FOR A PARTICULAR SUBJECT: Say I’m considering trying Ampligen or another treatment. Can I search for discussions specifically on Ampligen?

  • Yes, you can either search the entire forum package or a specific forum by clicking on the Search tab found on the menu bar running across the top of the page.

EMAILING A POST Can I e-mail a friend a particular discussion ? Email Image

1.       Click on the ‘Thread Tools’ tab on the menu bar running across the top of the first post in that discussion

2.       Then click on the e-mail this button and it will direct you how to e-mail the discussion

EMAILING SOMEONE ON THE FORUMS: I’d like to get in touch with someone outside of the regular Forum environment. How can I  do that?

There are three ways to do this. First click on their name. Depending on where you do this you’ll either be sent directly to their profile or you’ll be given a way to do this.  If you’re in their profile  click on SEND MESSAGE. You can:

1.       Send them a message that everyone can see

2.       Send them a private message that only you and them can see or

3.       Send them a message via e-mail

PRINTING A POST - How do I Print Out That Valuable Post That I Know I’m Going to Forget Otherwise?-

1.       Go to the top of the page and Click on THREAD TOOLS on the menu bar

2.       Click on Print - so easy!

ATTACHING A DOCUMENT - I’d like to attach a document that people can  read or download if they want to.

1.       No problem. Click on the  PAPERCLIP SYMBOL  in the top section of ‘MessageBox” - which is where you type in your posts and it will guide you through the attachment process.

Calendar

ADDING AN  EVENT TO THE CALENDAR: I'd like to add an event to the calendar. How do I do that?

1.    Click on the Calendar tab on the menu bar running across the top of the page. On the lower right-hand side of the page click on Add New Event and then click on the type of event you want to add. You have the option to create a one -time event, an event that occurs over a number of days or even an event that occurs the same time every month.

Can I start a Poll?

  1. You can start a poll when you create a new post or 'thread'.  To create a poll simply go down to the Additional Options section on your new post page and click on "Post a Poll". If a post that you didn't start suggests a poll to you then simply start a new post.

THE BAD POST SECTION - we all know things can get a little intense on Forums at times.  If they get too intense then here are some things you can do about it.

What if someone’s posts go beyond the pale in terms of forum etiquette.pan>  Can I report them?

  • Yes, on the upper right hand of each post there’s a triangle with an exclamation point in it. Simply click on the triangle and you can report what you offends you about this post. If this poster is making a habit of being offensive and you want to go further see below.

What if there’s someone whose posts consistently irritate or offend me? Can I make it so that I stop seeing their posts?

  • Yes, go click on User CP on  the top left hand of every page and then go down to Settings and Options.  Click on ‘Edit Ignore’ and then type the name they use to post into the box. It’ll be  like they were never there! You’ll now see the forums as before but this person’s posts will not appear and they will not be able to e-mail you.
